I have no greater satisfaction than knowing that what I write makes Macs, computing and photography approachable and therefore useful and usable.

In the fast paced blogosphere I rarely, if ever, take the time to read -- let alone contact -- an author. However, your Macintosh Performance Guide is by far one of the best articles I've ever read in regards to understanding how a computer works.

I'm currently working on my PhD in bioinformatics and not coming from a computer science background, have struggled to come to terms with the language I hear being thrown around on a daily basis. I will reticently ask for edification but usually get some inexplicable answer by someone who doesn't really understand it themselves or is too high and mighty to break it down for a complete neophyte.

I just want to thank you for putting your blog together. In the 20 minutes it took me to read a few articles, I've learned and understood more than in the previous three years. Maybe its that I did have a base knowledge from my previous attempts of understanding what a CPU, core, etc were, but I believe your articles really solidified my understanding.
