iPad: ”Could Not Check For an Update to the Carrier Settings”

This annoying message appears every time that iTunes starts. A new annoyer bug from Apple? I don’t have a SIM card in my iPad, maybe Apple incorrectly assumes every one of the millions of iPads sold has a SIM card installed.
