Suspicious MacBook Pro Internal SATA cable— Deferring Tests on 2011 MBP
I’m hearing and reading plausible feedback and results that leads me to believe that the result with the OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD on my 2011 MacBook Pro results are quite possibly due to a poor quality internal SATA cable as supplied by Apple.
In other words, the variable read performance of the OWC SSD in the 2011 MacBook Pro might be due to poor quality of the installed Apple cable. This would also explain the complete failure of the Intel 510 to work in my MacBook Pro. I expect to have another MacBook Pro for testing within a day or to, to confirm.
Accordingly, I am suspending testing with my 2011 MacBook Pro until I receive another 2011 MacBook Pro on loan, which I hope to have in a day or two.
I’m not the first one to experience this problem apparently. And how do you warranty such an issue, given that Apple doesn’t ship a 6G SSD (“unsupported”) ?
