Apple Watch Noise Nanny: Outdoor Bicycling is Too Loud

re: Apple Watch

I start an "Outdoor Cycling" workout on the Apple Watch, and it tells me within a minute or two that the noise level might be bad for my ears eg 91 dB. Huh?

Every time I go for a ride. This noise-nanny “feature” then blocks me from seeing what I want to see on the watch until I dismiss it, which isn’t easy while riding. So I have to stop to fix the damned thing.

Great design Apple!

I have to figure out how to turn off all the useless cheerleader hoorahs and nagging nanny alerts to make it not be an annoying POS. And not crash trying to dismiss this shit and get back to the regular display. And how do I get altitude and ascent/descent?

The thing requires a lot of work just to get the core things I’ve used for 20 years with other products. It’s make-work technology, not something that just does the right thing. And then there have been two software updates in just 5 days. Science fair project.

But I am getting enough convenience/utility out of the Apple Watch that I might end up keeping it—but it has to prove useful on my mountain hikes first.
