Another MacBook Pro Arrives Today— Resuming Testing With OWC 6G SSD

I have a loaner 15" MacBook Pro arriving today so I can resume testing the OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD, because it appears that the SATA cable in the 17" model is flaky, as reported by other users on the web.

Assuming the 15" model performs as expected, I’ll have a variety of tests posted later today from the 15" MacBook Pro. A big thanks to OWC for loaning me the 15" MacBook Pro for testing. I’ll be sending OWC my 17" MacBook Pro to OWC so they can diagnose and verify the cable issue, or whatever is actually causing the problem. I do hope it’s something simple like a low quality Apple cable, and not an inherent design defect of the MBP.

Note well that as far as I can tell, the issue is entirely on the Apple quality side, and has nothing to do with the OWC 6G SSD, and since the OWC 6G SSD works, and the Intel 510 6G SSD would not even format, I give the OWC design a lot of credit for working in the face of an apparently flaky SATA cable.
