The 2023 MacBook Pro M3 Max comes out the winner, with the 14-inch and 16-inch models performing the same*. it’s not always the fastest but in total is quite impressive.
The 10-core M3 Max design with 40-core GPU clearly outperforms the 24-core M2 Ultra with 60 core GPU. One explanation is an implementation by Adobe which has not been optimized for more CPU and GPU cores, perhaps using them unwisely (eg using too many efficiency cores).
* Within the margin of error. Even with 20 iterations, some operations like LensCorrections show excessive variability, for which I have no explanation.
